tuesday night, a.k.a. grant's b'day, was the team trophy ceremony....and as trend for summertime, we were having an afternoon thunderstorm....luckily we were able to move the party into the middle school!

though he aggravates his sissy immensely, he really is a pretty awesome little brother....he always cheered her on and yelled for the team during each and every game we dragged him too :)
wednesday and thursday were off days ~ which were really hard to get used to ~ and then we picked right back up friday night for our tournament in hoover!
(disclaimer - i changed clothes at work and went straight to the game. so i had no camera ~ gasp! ~ so this is a lot of text!)
the girls started their first game amidst a thunderstorm rolling in....once the lightening started we were on rain delay for about 30 mins...the game finally started back up but the girls never really did! they lost their game pretty good....brett gave the girls a really good post game/pre game talk...yup, they had another game an hour later!
about 8:45 they started their second game...and it was a whole new team!!...they were on fire and doing great :) we ended up winning our first game of the season...whoohoo! excited doesn't even explain ourselves....we decided the girls always should play ball at their bed time!
home, laundry, bed and back up at 8am saturday morning! grammy even came up to brave the heat!! the girls had to be at the field by 9am for a very long, HOT day...and their first game was the same team they beat the night before! well guess what?!?! we beat them again!!! oh . my . goodness....that meant we were in the championship game immediately after it!
and luckily, i had my camera...though i must admit, i didn't take as many as usual!
the girls gave it EVERYTHING they had....and lost by only one point!!....wow, unbelievable....this was the same team that put a butt-kicking to us friday night....new day, new game and some fired up girls!!

watching audrey grow in softball this season has made me one proud mama for sure! we've learned a lot of lessons, put lots of miles on the car, drank lots of gatorade, became really good pack mules, taken tons of pics, made lots of new friends, had some bruises & bumps, braved the heat and enjoyed watching our girl in her very first allstar season!
next up, a few days of work for me and then a much needed vacay for this family....whew, finally!! before i know it this summer will be over, the kids will be back in school and we will be starting up fall ball, football, gymnastics & more...
...but until then, as my favorite zac brown would say, the only worry is if the tide is going to reach my chair!
